In a shocking incident on January 16, 2025, Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked by an intruder at his Mumbai residence in Bandra. The assailant, believed to be a burglar, entered the home around 2:30 a.m. and confronted Khan near his three-year-old son’s bedroom. In the ensuing struggle, Khan sustained six stab wounds, including serious injuries to his thoracic spinal cord, neck, and left hand.
Khan was promptly transported to Lilavati Hospital by his son, Ibrahim. Dr. Nitin Dange, a neurosurgeon at the hospital, reported that a surgery was performed to remove a knife lodged in Khan’s spine and to repair leaking spinal fluid. Additional deep wounds on his left hand and neck were treated by the plastic surgery team. Dr. Dange confirmed that Khan is now stable and out of danger.
At the time of the attack, Khan’s family, including his wife Kareena Kapoor Khan and their two children, were present in the house but remained unharmed. The initial alarm was raised by a domestic help, who has since filed a police complaint against the unidentified intruder for trespassing and attempted murder.
Mumbai Police have launched an investigation into the incident. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone 9, Dixit Gedam, stated that the accused used a fire escape to enter the house, suggesting an attempted burglary. One suspect has been identified, and multiple detection teams are actively working to apprehend him.
The attack on Saif Ali Khan, a prominent figure in Indian cinema with a career spanning over three decades and approximately 70 films, has sent shockwaves through the Bollywood community and raised concerns about the safety of celebrities in their private residences.
